My work centers around understanding people and the systems they live within, and using this to make positive changes to their lives. I've always had one foot in psychology - getting my BSc Psychology and working and volunteering with people of all support needs - but also with the other foot in strategy and governance - wanting to bring people's voices to the heart of decisions that affect everyone.
I've previously worked across government as a social researcher, using insight to bring customer needs into decision-making. I've worked in behavioural science, analysis, policy, evaluation, academic research and more! As well as building professional skills, I've been able to experience many different cultures and ways of working and use this knowledge to improve practices in my own work.
Outside of work I've volunteered in several places, including:
In psychiatric and special needs facilities in Sri Lanka
Running Boccia sessions at the Royal Hospital for Neurodisability
Raising money through cycling the London to Brighton and Brighton Marathon for WWF and Glassdoor Homelessness Charity.
I also enjoy bouldering at the weekends, meeting dogs, and making art!
The coaching relationship is key to achieving successful outcomes. This is why the first step in coaching is to book in an introductory or 'chemistry' call, so you can make sure you feel comfortable sharing your goals, ideas, and problems with me.
My approach to practicing is one of openness, honesty, reliability, and trust. I really care about building an inclusive practice that works for people who think and experience the world from different perspectives. I've had both good and bad coaching (and other!) experiences myself so I know how demoralising it can be when things just aren't 'clicking' or you feel misunderstood or stuck. I will provide a respectful, empathetic, and non-judgemental space focused on supporting you.
Neurodiversity, reasonable adjustments, anxiety and stress, career progression and change, managing difficult relationships, micro-management, disruptions to home life, caring responsibilities, confidence, communication - and just about the kitchen sink(!) are all things I, and many others, have been personally affected by. What this means is that I can support you through a whole range of complexities you might be dealing with - including if you're not yet sure what the real issue or goal is.
There are some other professions coaching can be confused with - is a little different from:
Mentoring - This is where someone more experienced provides specific workplace advice, e.g. proof-reading an application.
Counselling/therapy - This delves more deeply into your past to work on your mental health, e.g. exploring the root of difficult emotions.
I am a member of the EMCC and abide by these coaching ethics and standards. I will be very happy to answer any questions about what this means in practice, and about anything else you are unsure about.
I charge a flat rate of £40 per hour for sessions (excluding the introductory call, which is free).
Sessions will be held online and you will be provided with a link.
This includes time spent on communication, administration, and any supporting guidance provided outside of sessions - there will never be any further fees.
My cancellation policy is 48 hours ahead of a session - if you cancel after this time the booking is non-refundable, however I will always work with you to rearrange instead if possible.
This is a relatively low fee, reflective of the fact that I am going through accreditation. In future, this fee is likely to change, but this will not affect any existing clients.
